Many journalists continue to be in a critical situation

During the summer, there is no let-up in press freedom violations all over the world. Many journalists continue to be in a critical situation and Reporters Without Borders (RSF) does its utmost to come to their aid.

Combatting the constant persecution that is designed to silence Narges Mohammadi and the other journalists in Iran is vital. The many actions we take to end the arbitrary detention of Mortaza Behboudi in Afghanistan, Maryna Zolatava and Liudmila Chekina in Belarus, Ihsane El Kadi in Algeria and José Ruben Zamora in Guatemala must not stop. Our efforts to save Julian Assange from imminent extradition to the United States, where he could be sentenced to life imprisonment, must not falter. The fight against the Moroccan government’s relentless political persecution of Omar Radi, Soulaimane Raissouni and Taoufik Bouachrine must be stepped up.

Our mobilisation in support of these journalists and many others is total, but we need your support. Your purchase of our latest RSF book of photos helped us in a way that was much appreciated. But, if you can, a supplementary donation by you would enable us to pursue our effects to save those who risk their lives every day to provide us with freely and independently reported news and information. /BGNES
