Former Special Forces, Businessman And Politician Shot Near The Bulgarian Capital

An area near the Bulgarian capital saw the shooting of Alexey Petrov, a former Special Forces beret turned businessman and politician. At the base of the Vitosha mountains, close to Sofia, Bulgaria, a metro area, the murder was carried out with a machine gun. Three bodyguards were present to protect Petrov, but they were separated from the victim.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs received the shooting complaint around 12:20 PM. A man's lifeless body and a woman's harmed body were discovered by police teams who arrived on the spot almost immediately. She was transferred to "Pirogov" in a critical state.

In 2002 and 2015, Petrov was the target of two other murder plots. Petrov was wounded in the first one by machine gunfire to the chest and leg. The identity of the murderer and the motive for the crime were never publicly known. According to unofficial reports, it was an issue of settling accounts in the redistribution of security and insurance companies.

Security services have been an integral part of Alexey Petrov's profession.
