Bulgaria joined the G-7's backing of Ukraine

The Council of Ministers determined that Bulgaria will work with the Group of Seven (G-7) to strengthen Ukraine's long-term security.

On July 12, 2023, the NATO Summit in Vilnius released a joint statement in support of Ukraine. It was represented by the G-7 nations—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States—as well as the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. Other European nations later joined this movement.

This action is consistent with Bulgaria's ongoing support of Ukraine during this tense time. In a joint statement from the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria recognises its responsibility as an active participant in international efforts to stabilise the area and safeguard the peaceful growth of Europe./BGNES
