Borissov on the Russian spy affair: The silence of some institutions in Bulgaria is deafening

Again the deafening silence of some institutions in Bulgaria when our national security has been violated by foreign services is symptomatic

Many world leaders have already condemned the actions of the spy network in our country, which collected information about Bulgaria, NATO and the EU. I am welcoming the Bulgarian secret services for their professional work and for successfuliy securing our country.

This statement was made by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov due to the spy affair, which was announced by Natiaonal prosecutor's office yesterday.

“We have a good partnership with Russia in a number of areas, but Russian espionage activity must stop! Bulgaria will stand unwaveringly by the national security and Euro-Atlantic affiliation – they both has been guaranteed by the diversification of gas supplies, the modernization of Bulgarian army and the forthcoming accession to the Eurozone”, Borissov said.

Yesterday, 6 people were accused in collaboratin within a spy group in favor of a foreign country. The group was involved in collecting classified information and providing it to a third country, in this case to Russia./BGNES
